This week I finally released my new book, “Who Works for Who? Let your money work for you”. Why did I title the book like that? Because you work hard for your money, and I believe through proper money management it should work hard for you in making your life better. Helping you to do that is one of the main reasons I wrote the book.
I hope you don’t think “money management” sounds like a chore! As with anything, there are aspects of it that are more fun than others. Personally, I like the Investing part the best, which is probably why I spent 20 years in the industry! But all parts of money management must come together and work together for you to be successful with your finances, and that is what my book can help you do.
I wrote the book in a light, conversational tone to make it easier and more enjoyable to read, and also for the benefit of people who don’t particularly love finance but want to learn more about money and how to make it grow. And I added a bit of the dry sense of humor that my students and former students have gotten know so well!
In the book, I talk about the standard personal finance things like planning, budgeting, and saving, of course. But I also add a few things that many personal finance books ignore like time value of money and the important relationship between risk and reward, because I think having a good knowledge of those concepts will give you the skills to greatly improve your financial life, and maybe even your career.
A few other things that I think sets my book apart from the rest is it’s realistic without being preachy, and I give you investment knowledge gained from over 20 years in the industry that few others will share with you. And I try to do so in a very readable and enjoyable way. And at 150 pages, it’s not a painful, months-long read. It covers topics at a beginner-to-intermediate level (my next book will contain a bit more advanced information), but I really believe people of all knowledge and skill levels when it comes to money will get a lot out of it.
So what does it mean when your money is working for you? It ties in to the concept that I call Building Lifetime Wealth, which is the title of this blog as well as my next book. It means that your money is growing in a way that improves your life over the course of your entire life. By managing your money better now, you’ll have more of it to enjoy. By investing some and spending some, the goal is to get greater pleasure from the money you earn as you get older, not just saving it all for an uncertain retirement. Having a comfortable retirement is important, but I don’t believe you need to sacrifice your whole life to get there.
The book will be available in print form very soon, and it will be listed on Amazon in the next few days (print and electronic). But by buying it directly on this website, you’ll receive a substantial discount ($4.95 vs $8.99 for the eBook, and $8.95 vs $12.99 for the print version). And if you have any questions, feel free to send me a message through this site, through LinkedIn, or at bldglifetimewealth@gmail.com.
